AGRICULTURAL CENTRE SALEZ
Project type
Details and Drawings
Date
April 2024
Location
Salez, Switzerland
In the Rhine floodplains of St. Gallen, Switzerland, architect Andy Senn designed a new agricultural center set against a striking mountain backdrop. The building is founded on reinforced concrete piles due to unstable soil, with a basement and foundation slab also in concrete. The two-story vocational training section features a timber frame with a 2.14 m grid, allowing large ceiling spans and long-term flexibility.
A 1:20 scale physical model of the upper floor and roof highlights key structural elements, including column groups, oak handrails, decking, and drip edges. The model and drawings provided insight into the ceiling, roof, and load-bearing systems, clarifying critical construction details and structural behavior.
